What-Am-I-Doing Helper Addins / Addons

Some information about what you're doing is really only available to the application that you're actually working in. Some applications are not that helpful when you look at the data that What-Am-I-Doing collects. For this reason, there's an interface that allows applications to push information to What-Am-I-doing to allow it to be much much more specific about what's going on.

For example:

Outlook 2007

If you're in your email, typing away at a message then the sort of thing you want to know is who you're sending it to. this should enable you to tie it down to a customer / project.

Better still is if it can tell you the to / from / subject of the email that you're reading. This is one of those area where vast amounts of time can be consumed with no visible results, however it is something that your customers expect - that you read the emails that they send you.

Outlook 2010

The outlook helper has been updated to work with later versions of Outlook.

Visual Studio

The visual studio addin enables you to see the full path of the file that you are working on. This usually means that you can automatically allocate the time to a project. If it does not mean that then you really really need to review your strategy for saving files.

Planned Addins

There are a few addins that are planned.

  • Internet Explorer - gets the full URL of the page you're working on
  • Firefox- gets the full URL of the page you're working on
  • Outlook 2003 - same as the 2007 functionality - from, to and subject.
  • Eclipse - Information on the workspace, file path and perspective

If any of these are likely to help you, please contact us and we'll put them to the top of the pile.
